About Our Transform Global Ambassador
Laurence Yap is an accomplished and influential human resources leader with over 20 years of experience in organization development, corporate learning, and talent management. He has worked in key HR roles across various industries including retail, technology, engineering, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, hospitality, and renewable energy for major multinational and Malaysian corporations. Leveraging his extensive professional experience, Laurence co-founded the HR Leaders Circle in Malaysia comprising over 250 HR directors. He is also an active founding member of Hacking HR Malaysia, part of a global HR network. He is widely recognized in the HR community. He won the prestigious HR Leader Award in 2017 and the HR Best Practice Award in 2019 from the Malaysia Institute of Human Resources. He was named a Top LinkedIn Influencer in Malaysia for 2017-2018 and a Top 23 HR Influencer in Southeast Asia for 2023-2024 by ETHRWorld

As a Transform Ambassador in Malaysia, I’m excited to put my love for leadership, innovation, and social impact to work.
Transform’s values center on the development of meaningful interactions and human connections. As an Ambassador, I’m looking forward to engaging with HR leaders, managers, and executives from other businesses. These partnerships foster collaboration and creativity, altering our workplaces.
Transform’s emphasis on mobilizing businesses for positive change resonates with me. As an Ambassador, I consider my role as a catalyst for important social activities both locally and globally. Together, we make a lasting effect and inspire others to join us on our quest.
Proactive leadership is required in today’s changing workplace. As a Transform Ambassador in Malaysia, I am driven to influence the future of work in our region. Influencing strategy, spurring innovation, and promoting dialogue all contribute to a more inclusive and dynamic workforce.

A: My motivation for becoming a Transform Global Ambassador stems from a strong desire to positively change business HR practices. The potential to engage with like-minded people from all backgrounds and countries to reshape the future of work in Malaysia truly appealed to me.

Q: When you are not engaging in ambassador activities, what does a day in your life look like?
A: On days when I’m not involved in ambassador activities, I spend my time researching new ideas, refining my talents, and interacting with loved ones. I believe in balancing work, personal development, and recreation.

A: As the saying goes, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” – Mahatma Gandhi. This slogan reminds me of the potential of individual actions to promote collective change, and it motivates me to lead by example in whatever I do.
