The only constant in life is change. This year has been filled with dramatic, accelerated change as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the social movement in support of Black Lives Matter. The rapid acceleration of change has caused a shift in workforce dynamics, and redefined our collective view on work and the workplace.
Suddenly, there was an evolution to remote and distributed teams, direct attention paid to mental health, employee safety and wellbeing, renewed focus on flexibility and benefits for parents balancing work and parenting all at once, a debate around the need/role of the physical office, and urgent action to address diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace.
These changes create new opportunities. Collectively as leaders, we have a different lens now to view the future and to continue to shape the workplace of tomorrow.
